Barry Martin McFarland (1953-2011) Hornersville, MO 5.5" long A contemporary of Joe Stone, Claude Stone's (1888-1973) son, Barry learned much of call history and making from him. Considering to be a teacher and hunting partner. Joe had kept alive the stories, traditions, and skills that his father had learned back to J.T. Beckhart. As Joe Stone began to lose his vision he passed on the skill of checkering to Barry. Interestingly as Claude Jack Stone, Claude Stone's son and Joe Stone's brother, sought to get back into the family tradition, Barry helped him relearn the trade. They became excellent friends and even collaborated on calls together especially as Jack's sight diminished later in life, those calls bear both of their markers. This call was given to Jack as a gift from Barry. A four panel made in the Stone family style. Four tapered down swept crest panels stager between four upswept smaller checkered panels. Three of the panels have carved symbols, a flying duck, shotgun, and fish. The call features tight checkering across multiple planes of the surface with a smooth finish across all other surfaces. The top bears Barry's classic 'McDuck' brand stamp.Condition: Excellent and originalProvenance: Consigned directly from the Stone family
