Claude Jack Stone (1924-2024) Hornersville, MO c.1990's 6.75" long "Jack", the son of iconic call maker Claude Stone (1888-1973), grew up with no shortage of inspiration and direction as wood worker making everything from fine furniture to complete houses. However most of his calls were made after his heart surgery in 1990 that pushed him into retirement. Realizing a day would come when it would become difficult to differentiate his fathers work from his own he created his own brand, 'C STONE' that is stamped into the calls he made. He relearned his carving heritage with friends Howard Harlan, Barry McFarland, and his brother Joe. Ultimately he only pursued call making as a hobby and donated many calls to local organizations to help them raise money. This 5 panel call represents one of the first he ever made, and according to family, is probably the nicest ever made. The barrel bears the classic Stone family 'S' incised on one of the panels. 5 large tapered down swept crest panels stager between 5 upswept smaller checkered panels. The call features tight checkering across multiple planes of the surface with a smooth finish across all other surfaces. After setting and breaking the auction record for his fathers work in our 2025 Winter Feature Auction twice, we are honored to represent works from the family's private collection of important calls. Though the family considers it difficult to let one of his calls go, they would like collectors at large to be able to view and acquire Claude Jack Stone's work for their collections.Condition: Excellent and originalProvenance: Consigned directly from the Stone family
