Patrick Loughran Studio Art Cup & Saucer

Excellent selection of a two-piece art selection, produced by renowned American ceramicist Patrick Loughran. Holding dual presentation purpose as a cup and saucer set, this pair of terracotta art features a whale motif, deep incised sgraffito details, and gold luster rims. The saucer has a specifically articulated geometric depression that matches the square bottom of the cup for exact precision. The underside of both pieces appears to feature “Loughran 1984” handwritten. Patrick Loughran (b. 1948) is a highly respected contemporary American-French ceramic artist. He is celebrated for bridging the gap between functional craft and raw, sculptural fine art. After pursuing his educational degrees in the 1970s, he set up his first production studio near the end of the decade spanning into the 80’s. It is in this early period of the artist’s career that he focused on a functional dinnerware art series, something that this cup and saucer set was a part of. Both pieces are in great shape for their age with no visual cracks, chips, or damage based upon general overview. This might be a very small bit of wear, but overall great showcase pieces.
