Fiona by Heather Menditto celebrates a special memory shared with her young son. Inspired by a mama bird that nested near their home, Heather named the bird Fiona after her 8-year-old son affectionately gave it that name. Created with acrylic paint using both pencil sketching and freehand techniques, the piece captures the beauty of this everyday moment in nature. As Heathers first Palettes of Waterford entry, the artwork is especially meaningful, not only because it preserves a cherished family memory, but also because it rekindled her own passion for creating art—a joy she had not experienced since she was younger.
