This hand-colored etching with aquatint by Ernst Zipperer depicts the St. George Fountain in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The architectural composition features the ornate Renaissance fountain against a backdrop of historic half-timbered houses and is signed by the artist in pencil to the lower right margin. The work is presented in a carved gold-tone wooden frame under glass.Frame: 16.5 x 12.5 inches.The paper exhibits severe water damage across the bottom third, resulting in prominent tide lines and pink dye staining. Overall heavy toning and scattered foxing spots are visible in the margins. The wooden frame shows minor surface wear, and the reverse paper backing is torn and heavily water-damaged.
