Two tier wooden flatware storage chest in a deep reddish mahogany tone with a high gloss. The hinged top lid opens on two brass hinges to a fitted upper tray, and a full width lower drawer pulls out on two small brass knobs, with a third knob on the lid front. Tray and drawer are lined in dark brown anti tarnish flannel, and the upper tray has slotted dividers for a full service of knives, forks and spoons. The lid flannel is printed TREATED TO RESIST TARNISH. The seller identifies this as a Reed and Barton chest. A faint impressed mark shows in the flannel above that printing, but no maker name was clearly readable in the photos. A 12 inch ruler appears in photos for scale. The chest is wider than the ruler and roughly 7 inches tall with the lid closed. Condition is very good with the finish intact, light scuffing along the back edge and a small mark on the rear panel. No silverware is included. Authenticity has not been verified by Crawford Auction Service. Estimated Value: $25 to $50 based on comparable recent sales. Sold as-is.
