This hand-modeled terracotta sculpture depicts a seated Navajo woman cradling a child, characterized by a simplified form and stylized features. The figure is finished in a reddish-brown unglazed clay with textured hair and smooth facialcontours. The reverse bears the incised signature J BEGAY beside a circular symbol and the copyright date © 94 1 90. This piece measures 9 inches tall and 9 inches long.Scattered white mineral efflorescence and plaster residue are present across the surface, particularly on the hair and chest. Minor scuffs and surface abrasions appear on the clay body. Small chips and wear are visible along the base.
