Dense opaque black flattened pocket flask. Blown in an 18 diamond pattern mold. Open pontiled base. Sheared and fire polished lip. Circa 1764 to 1774. Probably blown at one of the Stiegel glass houses. Shards of a dense opaque black amber glass were found during an excavation at the site of Stiegel's second glass works in Manheim, Pennsylvania. Ex James O. Duguid collection and ex John Decaro collection. Condition is attic found with one pinhead size flake to the shoulder and there is considerable high point wear to both sides. Also as is typical for this mold, the pattern on one side is quite weak. Measures approximately 5 inches wide x 5 7/8 inches tall.
