This is a hand-carved Oaxacan alebrije in copal wood, stylized as a frog, painted in bright colors, typical of works by the artist Pedro Ramirez of San Antonio Arrazola, Xosocotlan, Oaxaca, who signed this piece on the underside. He is a known artisan surname in Arrazola. It features the hallmarks of his work: dot pattern painting in dense symmetrical clusters, bright, contrasting colors, pink, blue, green, yellow, and a whimsical animal form with exaggerated features.
