ca. early 19th century; This unusual "Rebus-type" bookplate has three religious illustration elements within a simple Germanic verse. The three illustrations includes "a nesting of three hearts" representing love or happy home, a "king's crown" with diamonds and flowers, along with a red cross atop a globe. The pictorial puzzle-verse is brightly watercolor accented and bookplate is watercolor boxed. (Rough translation: "A faithful heart is a crown for Christ's dominion over the earth"); frame - 5 7/8" x 7 7/8"; Condition: Unknown origin, minor foxing and soil. Vertical center-line fold.
