ca. pencil dated on base "Feb. '98" 1898; Branded, "Daniel Cragin Mfg., Wilton, N.H." set with steam-bent mahogany bands in simple overlay with tack fasteners, mounted softwood bottoms, each pencil signed on base by employee (partial legible) with date. Daniel Cragin founded his water powered manufacturing facility in 1853, in Wilton, NH. along the Souhegan River. In 1878, he started production of dry measures. The factory was sold in 1909, to Dr. E.B. Frye & son Whitney Morse Frye, who changed branding to "E.B. Frye & Son". The factory was among the last water powered in the nation.; 6 7/8"- 11 1/2" dia.
