ca. Nov. 1982; Signed, Becky Mummert, East Berlin, Pa. large size sgarffito decorated reproduction redware loaf dish with an incised “Lewis Miller, 1807" scene. This massive loaf dish was slab-form molded and shaped with flowing brown tone yellow slip ground with incised rural scene and verse taken from a Lewis Miller drawing from 1807. The bowl has a sponge printed green accent. The scene is of the "Paul Mayer and his sister Mattera's homestead and cherry orchard" near Leader Heights, York Co. Pa. Lewis Miller was a York City home builder/artist that recorded views of his journeys around York Co. to Virginia. Becky Mummert lives in East Berlin, Adams Co., Pa.; 19 1/2" x 14 3/4" x 3 1/2" H; Condition: Good condition, minor flea-flake from glazed edge of rim.
