An excellent reverse-etched glass display case from the celebrated Gunzenhauser Bakery which was located at 801 N. Prince Street in Lancaster City. The building, constructed in 1911, was recently demolished after years of neglect. Christian Gunzenhauser (1857-1938) immigrated to the U.S. from Germany in 1872 and established himself as a prominent baker in central Pennsylvania. The case has two shelves, and retains its' original alligatored finish, original glass and maker's tag marked "Miami Manufacturing Peru, Indiana Makers". Provenance: The collection of Linda and the late Ed Althouse. 32"H x 23"W x 23"D Excellent condition.
