A very rare example in the original paint. Dan Patch was a world-famous champion harness racing horse that set numerous records in his career including running the mile in 1:55. He had several owners, the last being Marion Savage who owned International Stock Food. Savage branded many different products, including tobacco and his own stock food, with the likeness of the undefeated Dan Patch. Savage also gave away, as premiums, a number of different branded Dan Patch items including pocket watches (see previous two lots) and this sleek racing pedal car. A combination of tin, iron and wood, the car is in the original red paint with black pinstriping and highlights. The spoke wheels have a hard rubber tire and the car has the original crank and steering wheel. The front of the car has the original partial label that says in part "Dan Patch" with an image of the horse racing. From an old New England collection. 35"L x 20"H One cotter pin holding the rear left tire is replaced. Two screws inside the engine compartment area holding the noisemaker are replaced. One small age split in left side of wood frame. Wear on front from the crank being turned. General wear to paint. Excellent folky look and very good condition considering age and use.
