This antique marking sampler is hand-stitched in red thread on a coarse natural linen ground. The piece features multiple rows of alphabets and numerals, signed Ellen Dutch and dated 1882. It is professionally float-mounted within a woodframe with a rope-style inner border and conservation glass. The reverse bears a label for Curtis Frame. Frame measures 12 x 14.5 inches. The linen ground exhibits age-related toning and visible brown foxing, particularly in the lower-left corner and bottom edge. The fabric edges are raw and slightly frayed. The red embroidery thread shows excellent color preservation.
