This American-made Phase Linear 4000 is a classic autocorrelation preamplifier designed by Bob Carver. The brushed aluminum faceplate features a unique joystick balance control alongside standard bass, treble, and volume knobs. The rearpanel is printed with A PREAMP DESIGNED BY BOB CARVER and includes a white adhesive label reading Phase Linear Model 4000 S/N: 7520. It offers comprehensive RCA inputs and six AC accessory outlets.This vintage unit presents nicely with light surface scuffs and dust common for its age (photo 1). Minor oxidation is visible on the rear mounting screws (photo 6). All original controls remain intact and move freely (photo 9).
