Vintage handwoven Hopi sash by Gladys Bochineloony, accompanied by its original Museum of Northern Arizona, Flagstaff – Hopi Craftsman Exhibition tag. The original exhibition tag identifies the artist as Gladys Bochineloony and the article as a “Navajo Sash.” The tag dates the piece to the July 1984 Hopi Craftsman Exhibition, is numbered M20003, and shows an original price of $30.00. The sash features a cream-colored ground woven with repeating geometric motifs in muted red, accented by narrow red and yellow borders. Long hand-braided and twisted fringe at the ends adds wonderful texture and traditional character. Measures approximately 92" in total length. A particularly nice documented textile retaining its original Museum of Northern Arizona exhibition tag and artist attribution. Vintage condition with age-related wear and variations consistent with a handwoven textile. See photos for details.
