Sears & Roebuck JC Higgins Model 41 .22 Cal

Updated August 24, 2026

This Sears & Roebuck J.C. Higgins Model 41 bolt-action rifle is chambered in .22 caliber and represents a classic mid-century sporting rifle sold under one of America’s most recognizable department-store firearm brands. This example has no visible serial number and features an approximately 22" barrel with a shiny bore. Overall condition is fair. The rifle wears a wood stock that has been custom refinished, giving the furniture a renewed appearance compared with the metal components. The finish has been removed from the barrel and receiver, leaving the metal in an unfinished state. The rifle currently needs work before it can operate properly and should be professionally inspected before use. J.C. Higgins firearms were sold through Sears for decades and were commonly produced by established American manufacturers under the Sears house brand. With its classic .22-caliber configuration, refinished stock, and project status, this is an interesting restoration candidate with plenty of nostalgic appeal. Please see photos.
