Savage Arms Sporter .22LR

Updated August 24, 2026

This Savage Arms Sporter bolt-action rifle is chambered in .22 LR and offers the classic wood-and-steel appearance associated with vintage American rimfire sporting rifles. Serial number 48181, this example features an approximately 23" barrel with a shiny bore and is in fair overall condition. The rifle wears a checkered wood stock with a traditional sporting grip profile, paired with a steel receiver, bolt assembly, and barrel. Considerable handling and finish wear is present throughout the stock, receiver, and barrel, giving the rifle a well-used and honest vintage appearance. Savage Arms has produced rimfire rifles for generations, and early Sporter-type bolt actions helped establish the company’s reputation for practical and affordable American sporting firearms. This example wears its age openly and should appeal to collectors who appreciate older .22 rifles with original character rather than pristine refinishing. With its checkered wood, long barrel, shiny bore, and classic bolt-action configuration, this Savage offers plenty of nostalgic appeal. Please see photos.
