This Smith & Wesson Model 1854 lever-action rifle is chambered in the legendary .45-70 Government cartridge and combines traditional American lever-gun heritage with thoroughly modern features. Serial number LLK1457, this rifle is fitted with an approximately 20" threaded barrel featuring a shiny bore and presents in excellent overall condition. Rather than traditional wood, the rifle wears durable synthetic furniture with a textured grip area, giving the classic lever-action format a decidedly contemporary appearance. The steel receiver, exposed hammer, lever-action operating system, and substantial .45-70 barrel create a rugged and purposeful package. A Picatinny rail provides convenient optics-mounting capability, while the threaded muzzle further distinguishes the Model 1854 from traditional lever rifles. A soft case is also included. Smith & Wesson's Model 1854 marked the company's modern return to the lever-action rifle market, with the model name paying homage to the company's 19th-century roots.
