1940 Jefferson Nickel INB Green Slab Holder 1940 Jefferson Nickel INB Certified Green Holder Condition: This 1940 Jefferson Nickel is housed in an International Numismatic Bureau (INB) green slab holder. The coin exhibits circulated details with visible wear on the high points of Thomas Jefferson's portrait and the steps of Monticello on the reverse. The surfaces show a natural aged patina consistent with copper-nickel composition. It was struck at the Philadelphia Mint as a business strike for general circulation. Historically, this coin represents the third year of the Jefferson Nickel series, which replaced the Buffalo Nickel in 1938. The metal content consists of 75% copper and 25% nickel. While the INB holder provides a serial number for tracking, it does not assign a specific numeric grade on the label.
