Handmade wooden novelty box in the form of a flush toilet. The construction is a band sawn freeform base slab, a coopered stave built pedestal bowl, a shaped seat, a hinged oval seat lid with a turned wood knob, and a separate rectangular tank with its own hinged lid and a pegged wooden flush handle. The surface is torch charred and then shellacked, which gives the orange and black tiger striped effect, and the raw unfinished underside confirms the charring is deliberate decoration rather than fire damage. Be clear on what it is. There is no coin slot, no mechanism and no lining, so this is a lidded catch all box, not a bank and not a cigarette dispenser. Both lids open and both brass hinges work, giving two separate compartments. No mark of any kind. Condition is fair with a long vertical split in the pedestal staves at the front, a second split at the left, and a chipped tank lid corner. Sold as-is.
