A pair of twin-handled, oval covered vegetable dishes manufactured by Johnson Brothers in the Old Staffordshire pattern. These cream-colored earthenware dishes feature scalloped rims and are supported by four small molded feet. Each conforming lid is topped with a bud-shaped finial accented with gold. The decoration consists of multi-colored floral sprays in shades of pink, yellow, and blue, framed by a continuous green geometric chain-link border. Ornate molded details on the handles and finials are highlighted with gilded accents. Each dish bears a blue underglaze backstamp on the base featuring the pattern name Old Staffordshire, a crown emblem, Johnson Bros, and England. Dimensions: Length approx. 8.5 inches handle-to-handle (measured against a visible tape measure). Condition: Surface staining and brown discoloration are visible on the interiors of the bowls and the undersides. Minor wear to the gilded accents is present throughout. No chips or cracks are apparent.
