A collection of hardcover volumes comprising historical and literary works. The group features John S. Williams, History of the Invasion and Capture of Washington, and of the Events which Preceded and Followed, New York: Harper & Brothers, 1857. This octavo volume is presented in a dark, blind-stamped cloth binding with gilt lettering to the spine and is preserved in a later brown cloth slipcase. Also included is Francis Parkman, The Oregon Trail, Boston: Little, Brown and Company, in an olive-tan cloth binding with decorative pictorial stamping in red, blue, and black depicting stylized figures and motifs. A volume of Charles Dickens, David Copperfield, New York: A. L. Burt Company (Home Library series) is present, bound in reddish-brown cloth with a gilt-decorated spine. The collection further includes a volume bound in half-tan leather with four raised bands to the spine and brown cloth-covered boards. Condition: The volumes exhibit age-related wear including spine sunning, edge fraying, and general shelf wear. The Williams volume shows a small loss at the head of the spine. The Parkman volume displays fading to the spine and general soiling to the boards. Light interior foxing and toning are present to the pages throughout the collection.
