Offset lithographic print titled Historic Beaufort: Gem of the South Carolina Sea Islands, surveyed and delineated by artist Marie Fenner in 1969. The decorative composition features a central street map of Beaufort, South Carolina, surrounded by numerous architectural renderings of historic local residences and landmarks, including the St. Helena Episcopal Church, various plantation houses such as Bonny Hall and Retreat, and sites like the Beaufort Arsenal and the John Trask House. The margins are embellished with narrative scrolls and vignettes detailing the colonial history of the region under Spanish, French, English, and Scottish influence, complete with heraldic crests, seals, and a 17th-century French compass rose. The artist's attribution and the date are integrated into the printed design in a scroll at the lower-left corner reading Surveyed and Delineated by Marie Fenner 1969 A.D. The print features additional historical illustrations including an observation balloon and the Stuart Town Seal. Condition: The paper exhibits uniform toning consistent with age. The print is housed in a dark-toned frame under glass. No visible foxing, fading, or handling creases are apparent.
