Clyde Connell Mixed Media Stones for Markings

This lot features an original framed mixed media work on paper titled Stones for Markings by American artist Clyde Connell. The abstract composition features stylized symbols and glyphs, signed with the artist's monogram in the lower right corner. The piece is housed in a gray mat and black-painted wooden frame with labels on the reverse for the title and Etronia Framing. The lot also includes a collection of international decorative objects. This grouping contains a hand-coiled African basket with a fixed handle and matching conical lid constructed from natural grass fibers. Also present are carved soapstone decorative items including an egg with a zebra motif in a twig nest and a shallow dish painted with African rondavels and geometric designs. A square textile featuring Australian Aboriginal dot-painting motifs and a set of twelve monogrammed brass napkin rings in a presentation box complete the collection. These items have mostly expected surface wear due to their age and wear. The basketry and textiles are intact and the soapstone pieces show light signs of handling. The artwork and frame are well-preserved.
