Ashtray base (glass insert missing), the underside lettered "The Monarch Machine Tool Co. / Glass and Plastic Moulds Turned on a Monarch Shapemaster / Sidney, Ohio," incorporating several decorative elements to highlight the capabilities of the company's lathes, 1 1/4" high x 6 1/4" diameter, two nicks to upper rim, wear. The business was reorganized as Monarch Machine Tool Company in 1916 and was one of the premier lathe manufacturers in the world.
