b. 1962) El Dueno del Huairuro - Shipibo-Konibo Amazonian Spirit Master Indigenous Amazonian Painting. This exceptional work, titled El Dueno del Huairuro, is an original hand-painted work by acclaimed Shipibo-Konibo artist Lastenia Canayo Garcia, also known by her Indigenous name Pecon Quena, meaning "the one who calls the colors." Executed in a striking palette of yellow, red, black, blue, green, pink, and white, the composition presents a powerful anthropomorphic guardian figure surrounded by an exuberant field of botanical forms, symbolic motifs, and intricate decorative elements. The central being dominates the composition with an immediately recognizable visual language that is characteristic of Canayo's extraordinary imaginary world. The subject belongs to one of the most important themes in Lastenia Canayo's artistic practice: the representation of the Ibo, spiritual beings or "owners" associated with plants, animals, fish, and other manifestations of the Amazonian natural world. In Shipibo-Konibo cosmology, these beings participate in and regulate the relationship between humans and nature. Canayo has devoted a significant part of her artistic career to preserving and visually interpreting this ancestral knowledge through painting, drawing, embroidery, ceramics, and other media. The work combines an intensely graphic central figure with a richly ornamented background, creating a composition that is simultaneously playful, spiritual, and deeply connected to Indigenous Amazonian knowledge. The hand-painted inscription along the lower edge identifies the represented being as El Dueno del Huairuro. Each work by Canayo functions not simply as a decorative image, but as part of a larger visual narrative through which Amazonian plants, animals, spirits, and ancestral stories are given individual identities and forms. Her highly distinctive iconography has made her an important figure in contemporary Shipibo-Konibo and Peruvian Amazonian art. ARTIST Lastenia Canayo Garcia, known in Shipibo-Konibo as Pecon Quena, was born in 1962 in the Native Community of Roroboya, Bajo Ucayali, Peru. Her Indigenous name translates as "the one who calls the colors." She learned traditional artistic practices within her family and developed an individual visual language centered on the spiritual beings and guardians of the Amazonian world. Her work has received significant institutional recognition in Peru and internationally. Canayo has participated in exhibitions and cultural events in Brazil, Colombia, and the United States, in addition to numerous presentations in Peru. In 2014, the Peruvian Ministry of Culture recognized her as a Personalidad Meritoria de la Cultura for her contribution to Peruvian culture. Her work has also reached major museum contexts. Her work is additionally represented in the collection of the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (MALBA). Canayo's i
