Donkey, and Building. Maynard Dixon (American, 1875-1946) Oil on board, rendered with a direct brushwork, depicting a stark desert landscape under a brilliant blue sky. A lone figure in a hat stands beside a laden donkey, facing a rustic striped shack, all set against a backdrop of tan mountains with deep blue shadows. Signed "MD Keeler. Cal. Oct. 1919" in the lower right. Framed. Maynard Dixon was an American artist celebrated for his evocative paintings of the American West. He dedicated his work to capturing the landscapes, cultures, and indigenous peoples of the American Southwest during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, establishing himself as a significant figure in Western art.
