Seller: Adela Aguilar Group Affiliation: Pine Ridge 4-H Species: Rabbit My name is Adela Aguilar, and I am a proud member of Pine Ridge 4-H. This is my 10th year in 4-H, and my journey with livestock started with rabbits when I was just 5 years old. I showed breeding rabbits until I was 9, then spent the next four years showing goats and the last two years showing lambs. This year, I decided to return to where I started and bring rabbits back into my 4-H experience for the Butte County Fair. This year, I am raising three rabbits that I have affectionately named the BLTs: Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato. All three were born and raised at my home, so I have had the opportunity to care for them from the beginning and watch their personalities develop. They have definitely kept life interesting,especially because they love running around my room, and one of them seems to think that absolutely everything is meant to be chewed. While they may keep me on my toes, working with them has reminded me why I loved rabbits so much when I was younger.My years in 4-H have taught me much more than how to raise and show animals. Through rabbits, goats, and lambs, I have learned responsibility, patience, dedication, and how much work goes into caring for an animal every day. I have also had the opportunity to grow as a leader through my club, including serving as a Vice President and helping younger members as a Teen Leader for Clover Buds.Looking toward my future, I hope to become a veterinarian and eventually own my own veterinary practice. My experiences in 4-H have helped me discover how much I enjoy working with animals and have given me hands-on experience that I know I will carry with me into my futurecareer.Your support of my rabbit project means much more to me than simply helping with this year's fair. It helps me continue an experience that has been a part of my life since I was five years old. From my first breeding rabbits to goats and lambs, and now back to rabbits, 4-H has given me the opportunity to grow, challenge myself, and develop skills that will stay with me for years to come.I would like to invite you to support me at the Butte County Livestock Auction on August 29 at10am.
