Offered is a 1943-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar, struck at the San Francisco Mint. This classic World War II-era silver half dollar is part of one of the most popular U.S. coin series. Please review the photos for the exact condition, surfaces, and overall appearance. The Walking Liberty Half Dollar was designed by renowned sculptor Adolph A. Weinman and was produced from 1916 through 1947. The obverse features Liberty walking toward the rising sun, while the reverse depicts an eagle perched on a rock with its wings raised. The 1943-S had a mintage of 13,450,000 coins and was struck in 90% silver and 10% copper. Each coin weighs 12.5 grams and contains approximately 0.3617 troy ounces of pure silver. The "S" mint mark identifies it as a San Francisco Mint issue. The 1943-S is considered a semi-key date for the later Walking Liberty Half Dollar set. San Francisco issues from this period are also known for sometimes having weaker strikes, making sharply struck examples particularly desirable to collectors.
