1872-P Seated Liberty Half Dime, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This late-date issue from the historic Seated Liberty Half Dime series is a classic piece of 19th-century U.S. silver coinage. Please review the photos for the exact condition, surfaces, strike, and overall appearance. The Seated Liberty Half Dime was designed by Christian Gobrecht and features Liberty seated on a rock, holding a liberty pole and shield on the obverse. The reverse displays the denomination “HALF DIME” within a wreath. The 1872 Philadelphia issue had a relatively low mintage of 90,000 coins, making it one of the scarcer regular-issue dates of the series. Philadelphia Mint examples carry no mint mark. The coin was struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, weighs approximately 1.34 grams, and measures about 15.9 mm in diameter. It features a reeded edge.
