Pioneer Arms Co Side-By-Side Break Action Hammer Shotgun 12 gauge This side-by-side break-action hammer shotgun was marketed under the Pioneer Arms Co trade name, a brand utilized by the Shapleigh Hardware Company of St. Louis. Chambered for 12 gauge, this sporting firearm features dual external hammers and double triggers, characteristic of early 20th-century American hardware store offerings. The metal surfaces, including the side-lock plates and barrels, exhibit a dark, aged patina with significant finish thinning and scattered surface oxidation. Verbatim markings include PIONEER ARMS CO on both the left and right lock plates. The firearm is fitted with a checkered wood stock and matching forend, both exhibiting numerous handling marks, dings, and finish wear consistent with age and use. The stock is capped with a black synthetic butt plate.
