Pair Sitzendorf Sanssouci Porc. Plaques & Frames

A pair of high-relief porcelain plaques produced by the Sitzendorf factory as part of the Alt Meissen Art series. Each plaque depicts a Rococo pastoral scene identified by the reverse label as being from the Castle-Park of Sanssouci,Potsdam, dating stylistically to the mid-18th century. The scene features a man in period attire playing a flute to a woman seated with a flower basket, set against a tree-lined background. The figures are crafted in matte white bisqueporcelain in high relief (alto-relievo) against a pale blue-gray ground. They are housed in matching ornate, carved, and gilded frames. The reverse of the plaques features a blue ink stamp with a crown over a capital N and the Sitzendorfname. A descriptive paper label is affixed to the backboards providing the title of the scene in German, English, and French. Each measures 11.5 x 14 x 2 inches.These plaques show expected wear consistent with their age. The delicate high-relief porcelain figures are well-preserved with no visible chips or cracks.
