A trio of earthenware cabinet plates produced by Burgess & Leigh Ltd of Staffordshire for Fondeville. Each plate features a transfer-printed scene from the Scenes of Olde English Customs series with hand-painted polychrome highlights and a blue rim. Central motifs include an itinerant knife grinder, a sedan chair from 1780, and an onion seller.Diameter: 9 inches (22.8 cm).Each plate displays fine, overall crazing to the glaze. Light brown discoloration and staining are visible on the reverse, particularly on one plate. Minor surface wear to the hand-painted details is present; no chips, cracks, or repairs are observed.
