McCoy and Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Mortars

This lot features a McCoy Pottery yellow glazed mortar commemorating the 150th anniversary of the United States Pharmacopeia and an Eli Lilly olive green mortar honoring Louis Hebert. Both ceramic vessels are relief-molded with the Latin phrase Secundum Artem and are accompanied by a promotional turned wood pestle branded for Coricidin. The McCoy piece displays the USP seal and Rx symbol, while the Eli Lilly item features a hand clutching grain and historical dates.McCoy Mortar: 5 inches height, 4.25 inches rim diameterEli Lilly Mortar: 4 inches height, 4.5 inches rim diameter.The yellow mortar has a 0.5-inch chip on the exterior rim and stable crazing on the interior white glaze. Both ceramic bases have deteriorated cork pads, with the green mortar missing a central portion of its pad. The wooden pestle shows minor scuffing and surface wear consistent with age.
