VASE. <br>H:25cm W:11.7cm This is a Yuan-dynasty pear-shaped vase painted with copper red underglaze pigment, featuring flared flower rim, slender tapering neck and plump pear belly supported by short ring foot. Set against smooth white glaze, layered decorative bands of banana leaves, sea waves and key-fret patterns adorn the neck. The main body depicts a flying phoenix amid auspicious clouds with finely detailed plumage, while scrolling vines and stylized lotus petals encircle the base. The copper red pigment presents dark crimson tone with faint greyish discoloration in areas. Phoenix stands for good fortune and harmonious marriage.
