Ernest Borel Cocktail Kaleidoscope watch, a highly collectible Swiss-made mechanical timepiece originally launched in 1953. The Dial Effect: Instead of a traditional central seconds hand, it utilizes transparent, overlapping patterned discs. As the movement runs, the rotating discs interact to create a continuously shifting, hypnotic kaleidoscope or "mystery" visual effect. The Hands: Time is indicated by the distinctive red arrows protruding from beneath the center dial discs. Case Design: This specific variant features a round gold-plated case accented by Ernest Borel's signature fancy geometric skeleton lugs. Many models from this era feature an exhibition see-through caseback to view the mechanical movement inside.
