HiBid Description Exceptional carved oak bowfront curio cabinet matching the monumental sideboard offered in this auction. This impressive display cabinet features curved glass sides, a bowed glass door, carved floral and foliate decoration, figural mask carvings, and carved paw feet. The cabinet includes multiple fitted glass shelves and a mirrored interior back, allowing light to reflect throughout the display area. The richly figured oak and elaborate carving are characteristic of high-quality Renaissance Revival furniture from the late 19th to early 20th century. The owner represented this cabinet and its matching sideboard as being by R.J. Horner. The quality, carving, and design are consistent with furniture associated with that maker; however, no maker’s label or identifying mark has been located. It is therefore being offered as an R.J. Horner-style cabinet rather than as a confirmed example. Approximate dimensions: 44 inches wide x 15 inches deep x 67 inches tall. Approximate era: Circa 1895-1910. Condition: Very good antique condition with wear appropriate for age. Glass shelves, curved glass panels, and mirrored back are present. Examine the photographs closely for glass condition, minor scratches, finish wear, and other age-related imperfections. A comparable documented R.J. Horner carved oak display cabinet measuring 50 inches wide sold for $2,000, while unmarked or R.J. Horner-style examples generally bring less.
