Description: Vintage forged steel wood splitting froe with wooden handle, measuring approximately 18.5 inches overall with a 10.5-inch blade. Froes were used by woodworkers, farmers, and shingle makers to split wood along the grain for producing shingles, shakes, kindling, barrel staves, and other woodworking projects. This example appears to be hand-forged and dates to the late 19th to early 20th century, circa 1880–1930. An excellent piece for primitive tool collections, blacksmithing displays, or early woodworking enthusiasts. Condition: Shows heavy surface rust, oxidation, and wear consistent with age and use. Handle appears serviceable but should be inspected before use. Please examine all photographs carefully as they are part of the description. If you have any doubt, please attend the preview and examine all photographs closely before bidding.
