f Scott #65 (3¢ rose Washington, 1861–66 issue).IdentificationDesign/Color: Standard 1861 Washington profile (second design). Rose shades with typical aging/toning. The top one appears a bit brighter; the bottom two show more orange-rose tones common in used #65s.Cancels: All feature bold fancy striped/bar cancels (likely NY or regional "killer" types popular on #65s). These are attractive and add collector appeal.Condition: Sound used singles with perfs intact (minor faults typical for the era). The heavy cancels are characteristic of Civil War-era postal practice to prevent reuse.Swedish Tiger & Siegel Auction CompsSwedish Tiger: #65 used is extremely common. Fancy cancels boost interest—similar striped/bar types are documented and desirable for cancel collectors. Off-cover used #65s are low-value fillers unless the cancel is exceptional.Siegel Auctions: They sell #65s with fancy cancels regularly (often in groups or specialized cancel collections). Nice fancy-cancel #65 singles realize $20–$150+ each (higher for rare/eyecatching killers or superb condition). Your striped examples are solid mid-range; comparable lots in Siegel sales go for modest premiums over plain used copies.Value Summary: $30–$10
