Antique H. & G. Simonds “Hop Leaf” Advertising Stoneware Flagon, Reading, England, This is an English stoneware brewery or spirits flagon made for H. & G. Simonds Ltd. of Reading, England, carrying the company’s “Hop Leaf” trademark. The two-tone cream body with brown glazed shoulder is typical of early-20th-century British commercial stoneware. The Hop Leaf mark was associated with Simonds Brewery and became a major part of its branding by the early 1930s. Similar Simonds ceramic vessels are generally dated to the 1920s–1940s
