1969 “Newport ’69 at Devonshire Downs” Jimi Hendrix Concert Poster – Framed with ArtRock Gallery Provenance Striking psychedelic concert poster promoting the legendary Newport ’69 Pop Festival, held June 20–22, 1969, at Devonshire Downs in Northridge, California. The colorful artwork, designed by noted rock-poster artist Bob Masse, is dominated by a stylized portrait of Jimi Hendrix with an electric guitar and captures the unmistakable spirit of the late-1960s music era. The remarkable lineup printed on the poster reads like a roster of rock, blues and soul royalty, including the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Ike & Tina Turner, Jethro Tull, The Byrds, Three Dog Night, Joe Cocker, Albert King, Johnny Winter, Booker T. & the M.G.’s, Steppenwolf, Eric Burdon, The Grass Roots, Spirit, Taj Mahal, The Rascals, Poco and many others. Hendrix appeared during the festival’s opening night and returned for an additional performance on Sunday. The reverse bears the ink stamp of ArtRock, 1155 Mission Street, San Francisco, a prominent gallery and dealer specializing in collectible rock-and-roll posters and music memorabilia.
