This is a Chinese black lacquered low table decorated with mother-of-pearl inlay. The top features a central oval scene of birds perched on a flowering plum branch with bamboo, accented by Chinese characters, and framed by a border of inlaid butterflies and stylized floral sprigs. The rectangular top rests on shaped splayed legs in the low kang or tea table form. It measures approximately 23.5 inches wide by 18 inches deep by 10.5 inches tall. The table is in good condition with scattered surface scratches, minor losses to the inlay, and chips to the lacquer along the edges and corners consistent with age and use.
