Civil War U.S. Springfield Model 1861 .58 Caliber Percussion Rifle-Musket (1862). Good Condition, Normal Handling Marks. 39" Barrel. Cap and Ball .A premier piece of American Civil War history, produced by the historic Springfield Armory and offered in good condition with normal handling marks consistent with its age and field service. Bearing a highly desirable 1862 production date stamped on the lockplate, this classic muzzle-loading cap-and-ball long arm features a 39-inch barrel secured by three standard barrel bands. An excellent find for historical militaria collectors, the firearm is crisply marked, displaying an authentic "U.S." stamp on the curved steel buttplate alongside matching military inspection stamps on each of the barrel bands. The rifle-musket is built with a beautiful full-length, straight-grained walnut stock and features an exposed percussion hammer with a functional half-cock safety notch. Mechanically complete, it is configured with a single-stage trigger, a fixed front sight, a flip-up graduated rear leaf sight, and an adjustable leather reproduction sling. As an antique black-powder firearm manufactured prior to 1898, no FFL is required for transfer. (82236) (GSCI85)
