Japanese Wakizashi Short Sword with Scabbard According to the owner's provenance, the blade, tsuba, and fittings date to the 1600s Tokugawa period. The hira-zukuri blade carries an honest gray patina and light surface staining consistent with its age, seated against a brass habaki and an iron tsuba. The mounts include a fuchi-kashira set, ornate fish-motif menuki on both sides of the hilt, and a black silk-wrapped handle over a rayskin underlay. A black lacquered wooden scabbard is included.
