Oil on board, framed. Attributed to Arthur Lismer (1885–1969). Depicting a vivid Canadian landscape with twisted foreground trunks, tall evergreens, and a bright blue lake set against rolling hills, the composition reflects Lismer’s mature Group of Seven vocabulary, characterized by animated brushwork, rhythmic contouring of trees, and a heightened chromatic palette that emphasizes the vitality of the northern wilderness. Signed A. Lismer ’42 at the lower right. Label on verso: Laing Galleries. 40.6 x 35.6 cm (16" x 14"), framed: 61 x 58.4 cm (24" x 23").
