Artist Biography: Henry (Hein) Reinblatt (1919–2010) was a celebrated Canadian sculptor, painter, printmaker, and educator based in Montreal. Born in Romania, he immigrated to Canada as a child and studied at the Monument National School of Fine Arts and the École des beaux-arts de Montréal, later becoming one of Quebec's most respected twentieth-century artists. Although best known internationally for his sculpture, Reinblatt was also an accomplished printmaker whose woodcuts, etchings, and lithographs reveal the same strength of design and expressive character found in his three-dimensional work. His subjects frequently explored everyday life, labour, and the human figure through bold, simplified forms. Reinblatt exhibited extensively throughout Canada and internationally. His works are held in numerous public collections, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, and many corporate and institutional collections. Today, his prints and sculptures continue to be sought after by collectors of important Canadian twentieth-century art.
