Cobalt-Blue Gilt Pastoral Scene Trinket Box

One fitted, two-piece round trinket or jewelry box with a cobalt-blue exterior, worn gilt borders, and a polychrome pastoral or allegorical scene on the lid featuring figures, foliage, and a black-and-white dog. The lid has a plain white glazedunderside, and the matching base has a turquoise textile or felt lining. No readable maker’s mark, signature, inscription, or named pattern is visible. Visible condition issues include losses and abrasion to the gilt edging; scratches, abrasions, andglaze wear to the cobalt exterior; and rubbing, fading, and discoloration to the lid decoration. The white interior and rim show brownish staining or grime, while the turquoise lining appears aged and soiled. Small marks or spots are visible on theunderside. No definite major crack or repair is visible in the supplied views, although the full rim and all surfaces are not documented. The hand, ring, surrounding surface, and loose debris shown are not included.
