VIN: 50/G.9.2348 Engine: 500cc Color: Black A superb 1950 Matchless G9 500cc. Engine number 50/G.9.2348. Frame number 54329. Gearbox number G88.J49. The Matchless G9 Super Clubman and corresponding AJS Model 20 were launched at the Earls Court motorcycle show in late 1948. At first exclusively for export to the US, it was not until late in the summer of 1949 that Matchless first offered the G9 on the home market. From the beginning, it had a "Teledraulic" telescopic front fork, swinging arm rear suspension, dual seat, and "megaphone" silencers. The basic design changed little over the course of the next few years. Engine: 500 cc vertical twin engine. Bore: 66 mm. Stroke: 72.5 mm. Compression Ratio: 7.7:1. Maximum Power: 24.3 kW (33 hp) at 6800 rpm. Transmission: 4-speed with chain final drive. Top Speed: 137 km/h (85 mph). Weight: 181 kg (400 lbs). Fuel Capacity: 17 liters. Frame: Teledraulic front suspension, swingarm rear suspension. Brakes: Drum brakes with steel wire spoke wheels and tire sizes of 3.25 x 19 in. (front) and 3.50 x 19 in. (rear)
